STEAL THE 7 TIPS THAT MAKE MY NEWSLETTER SUCCESSFUL

Summary: I share 7 valuable strategies that helped me grow “The Techpreneur Newsletter” from 0 to 460 subscribers in 2 months so you can do it too.

This newsletter is growing fast! You are 460 subscribers already! ❤️‍🔥 Thank you for your trust, I really appreciate 🙏.

To better serve your entrepreneurial needs and improve your experience, I'd love to know which topics will help you move forward faster in your journey. 🚀

I’d be grateful if you could use 2 minutes of your time to reply to these 4 short questions:

I am reading EVERY SINGLE RESPONSE!

As we approach the milestone of 500 subscribers, I thought I share some tips I’ve learned during this process to help you start and build your own newsletter.

1. LEVERAGE SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS

As you know, I have a Twitter account. If you don’t follow me yet, you should 😇. By the way, I have seen too many entrepreneurs following me to be able to receive my free lead magnet by DM and unfollowing me right after. I see you!

Anyway, Twitter is a valuable platform for promoting your email list. Engage with your audience by posting compelling content related to your lead magnets and email newsletters.

  • Add your newsletter landing page URL in your Twitter bio.
  • Replace the Location field in your Twitter info by “Free Newsletter →”. Check out my profile to see how I did it.
  • Publish an auto-plug related to your newsletter at the end of every thread.
  • Publish lead magnets and other gifts on your Twitter timeline (more on that below).

Create a sense of exclusivity by emphasizing that the most valuable content is only available to email subscribers. And it makes sense, emails are long form content so you’ll be able to explain topics in details.

2. CREATE VALUABLE LEAD MAGNETS

This is the method I find the most effective. I like to offer a valuable lead magnet, something original I spent significant time to build, providing the solution to ONE unique problem you have.

You can create lead magnets in the form of:

  • checklists
  • templates
  • ebooks
  • whitepapers…

I even created a lead magnet about how to do a lead magnet. And now I mention it in a newsletter section about lead magnet… That’s inception level 10 🤯.

Just ensure that your lead magnets align with the interests and needs of your target audience. Of course, having an existing audience on social media helps to start.

3. UTILIZE LANDING PAGES

A well-designed landing page can significantly improve your conversion rates and encourage more visitors to subscribe to your email list:

  • Create dedicated landing pages for your lead magnets and promotional campaigns.
  • Optimize these pages with persuasive copy, captivating visuals, and a clear call-to-action.
  • Test your landing pages.

I update my landing pages from time to time and look at the analytics. Currently all of them are extremely short as I do the copywriting on a tweet, so the people who reach the landing pages are already warm.

4. OPTIMIZE YOUR WEBSITE FOR EMAIL CAPTURE

If you have a unique landing page for your services, make sure it has an email capture field.

If you have a website:

  • Place an email capture form in the footer.
  • Create a dedicated page for your newsletter.
  • Eventually, use pop-ups, slide-ins, or sticky bars to grab your visitors' attention.

Clearly communicate the benefits of subscribing and emphasize the value they will receive by joining your newsletter.

5. PROVIDE CONSISTENT AND VALUABLE CONTENT

To keep your subscribers engaged and eager to open your emails, consistently deliver high-quality content that provides value. Share valuable insights, tips, and resources that can help your audience succeed in their efforts.

I’m running this quick survey 🔬 to make sure I understand your needs and help you solve your online business pains and reach success. Let me know what you like, dislike, or would like to read about, regarding both the substance (themes, topics, tools…) and the form (length, frequency, format, …).

6. SEGMENT AND PERSONALIZE YOUR EMAILS

Segment your email list based on relevant criteria such as industry, location, interests, or engagement levels. I use the email marketing tool MailerLite (affiliate link) to do so. Personalization increases engagement and strengthens the connection with your subscribers, leading to higher open and click-through rates.

For now I have a subscriber group per lead magnet, thus per topic. In addition, I have this newsletter group gathering pretty much all subscribers. I am maximizing the subscribers to this newsletter, as the main value is here, but having specific groups might become handy in a few months, offering additional gifts and services that are targeted to prospects interested in a specific topics such as SEO for e-commerce, productivity for solopreneurs...

7. TEST AND ANALYZE

Regularly analyze your email marketing metrics:

  • Open rates
  • Click-through rates
  • Conversions

Perform A/B testing for:

  • Email subjects, to improve your opening rate.
  • Content, to improve the click-through rate or reduce the unsubscribe rate.

I’ve reached 460 subscribers in 2 months and a half without having the recipe. Now that you have it, you can start your own email list and reach 460 subscribers even faster!

If you have 2 minutes, please reply to the 4 short questions in the survey. It would really help me and will be beneficial for you in the future newsletters.
