CHATGPT PROMPTING GUIDE

Before we start, I’ve created a free ChatGPT Prompting Guide, so don’t hesitate to tap into it. This article gathers some elements of this guide to teach ChatGPT beginner users how to effectively engage with ChatGPT.

We'll cover how to define ChatGPT's role, your target audience, the quality of the language used, the context, the action to perform, your desired deliverables, and the references and sources you might request.

Note: It is crucial to understand ChatGPT limitations. Overall, do NOT trust blindly the content created by ChatGPT. You can ask ChatGPT about it (See the catch-22 here? 😉).

DEFINITIONS

ChatGPT: Language model created by the company OpenAI. Designed to engage in interactive conversations and provide coherent responses.
Prompt: Written instructions given to a language model to generate your desired output.
Prompt Engineering: The process of designing effective prompts to guide the behavior of a language model.

STEP 1: DEFINE CHATGPT’S ROLE

Instruct the model to assume a specific role when generating the response. This helps guide the model's thinking and provides context.

STEP 2: DEFINE YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE

Specify the targeted audience for the response, especially if it's different from yourself.
